PJM Rhododendron

Rhododendron header

These rhododendrons are a showstopper in the spring. They are a great performer in our warm climates. This is an excellent foundation shrub that is great as a hedge or as a stand alone shrub. These evergreens add life with beautiful blooms to otherwise dull evergreen plantings. They are very much like an azalea, requiring acidic soil but grow larger than most azaleas.

Rhododendrons are easy to care for if planted correctly. Rhododendrons need a shaded area. They can handle morning sun, but afternoon sun will scorch the leaves. It is best to plant in an area that would receive shade or filtered sunlight. They should be planted in a protected area that will not receive harsh winter winds. It is a must that soil is amended. Break up heavy clay with pine soil conditioner.  Mulch the roots over with pine soil conditioner or pine straw. When planting, it is always best to use a root stimulator fertilizer to ensure a proper start.

These usually sell quickly during peek bloom time in April. Stop in to talk with our nursery specialist about if you have the right location for these beauties!
